Past productions atWellington Repertory TheatrePossible Worldsby John MightonDirected by Dan AshworthThere have been a lot of strange murders in Ontario. Inspector Berkley, an experienced cop, finds himself baffled when he cannot fathom the motive behind them. Solving this case will involve thinking outside the square and exercising the mind. This play will also exercise the mind of the audience as they watch George Barber, a polite pleasant young man, with what seems to be quite a brain, struggle to make a lasting impression on Joyce with whom he wants to share his world. But what sort of world? There are of course, many possibilities. He likes the beach, she is quite a swimmer yet there relationship is a little too fluid. With simple, yet compelling dialogue playwright John Mighton takes us into the dilemma of a philosophy, into possibilities, dark and light while following the ebb and flow relationship of the two lovers. The play uses parallel narratives to speculate about the questions of identity, and the role of imagination in love. All becomes clearer once the rain has fallen. Well, very possibly! This is no silly love story. Guaranteed cerebral! ![]()
